Installing a CO₂ laser is more than finding a spare corner for the cabinet. You also need a clear delivery route, the right electrical supply, extraction that suits the room, space for the chiller, and time for training on the day.
Sorting those points before the lorry arrives makes commissioning much smoother. The machine can then be set up, checked and handed over without last-minute surprises.

What should you check before the machine arrives?
Exact details depend on the model and how you will use it. These points apply to almost every Lasertech install:
- Enough floor space for the cabinet, not just the cutting bed
- A clear route from the delivery vehicle into the room
- The correct electrical supply for that platform
- Extraction — vented outside or a filter unit in the room
- A place for the chiller and any ducting
- Where sheet or offcuts will sit before and after a job
- Room for an operator to work and for later servicing
Treat them as one plan. A desktop machine in a classroom is a different job from a Large Format bed in a sign shop.
Allow space for the whole setup, not just the bed
The cutting area on the brochure is the sheet size, not the space the installation will take.
A Lasertech Desktop bed is 500 × 300 mm — about A3. Pro workshop beds run from 400 × 600 mm up to 1000 × 1600 mm. Large Format beds start at 1300 × 2500 mm and go up to 2000 × 3000 mm. Around that you still need the enclosure, the chiller, extraction, ducting and a sensible walkway.
Think about the job, not only the machine. Where will incoming sheet live? How will you load it? Where do finished parts and offcuts go?

Check the delivery route as well as the final position
It is easy to pick a spot on the floor and forget how the machine will get there.
Before delivery, walk the route from the yard to the room:
- Lorry or van access and turning space
- Door and roller-shutter widths
- Internal doorways and tight corners
- Steps, ramps or a change in floor level
- Whether you will need a pallet truck or extra lifting help
Desktop cabinets are easier to move than a Large Format chassis. If access looks tight, tell us early so we can plan the delivery with you.
Power: single-phase or three-phase
Do not size a supply from a generic figure online. Use the specification on your quotation.
Lasertech Desktop, Pro and M-CUT platforms run from a standard UK single-phase 230 V supply. That is why they suit many workshops, studios and classrooms that do not have three-phase power.
Lasertech Large Format platforms need a three-phase industrial supply. We confirm that during quotation and, where needed, a site discussion, so your electrician can prepare the right feed.
If you are looking at daily sheet-metal production rather than acrylic, timber or signage, that is usually a fibre laser conversation — not a CO₂ one.

Extraction and the chiller
Cutting and engraving produce fumes that need to leave the cabinet. Plan extraction with the machine, not after it is on the floor.
Vent-to-atmosphere extraction is supplied as standard on Desktop, Pro and Large Format. Where you cannot vent outside — a classroom, shared lab or office — Purex or BOFA filter units connect to the machine instead.
Large Format beds use zoned extraction, so only the area being cut is drawn. M-CUT work that includes thin metal needs a Purex or BOFA unit with a spark-arrest module, plus an oxygen supply for metal cutting. That is specified at install, not guessed from a generic extractor.
Every Lasertech package includes an S&A chiller. Give it a stable place with airflow, and keep a path clear so it can be serviced later.

Safety, enclosure and training
Lasertech CO₂ cutters are fully enclosed with safety interlocks. Keep the guards in place and follow the handover you receive on the day.
Machine safety is only part of the picture. You still need your own risk assessment, sensible material handling and a clear rule about who may run the laser.
Training is included with the UK mainland package and is arranged with Mantech Ireland for Irish sites. Operators learn LightBurn on Desktop, Pro and Large Format. M-CUT also includes RDworks for the metal side of the work.

What does Mantech include?
Lasertech machines are supplied as supported equipment, not a crate left at the door.
On the UK mainland that includes delivery, on-site installation, operator training, a 12-month parts and labour warranty and ongoing technical support from Halesowen. Irish workshops are planned and installed by Mantech Ireland.
On the day the engineers set the machine up, connect the agreed extraction, commission the system and train the people who will run it.
