Two laser cutters installed at Oldbury Academy

Mantech has installed two new laser cutting and engraving machines at Oldbury Academy in the West Midlands, increasing capacity in its Design and Technology department.

Two machines give staff more flexibility when planning practical lessons. More student projects can move through the workshop, with less waiting for machine time.

More capacity for Design and Technology

Students can cut components for models, engrave detail into creative work and see how a design made on screen becomes a finished part they can hold, test and refine.

Oldbury Academy's two-machine setup shows how a second laser can reduce queues during practical lessons. Compare workshop options on the education machinery hub, check the CO₂ laser installation requirements , and review the education warranty plan.

Installation, training and support

Our engineers installed and commissioned both machines, then provided hands-on training for academy staff. Oldbury Academy also has access to ongoing Mantech technical support after handover.

Planning laser capacity for a school workshop

For a busy teaching workshop, start with class sizes, the materials students use and how many projects need machine time in a typical week. That gives a clearer view of whether one machine is enough or whether a second laser will prevent a queue.
